Cardi B fired back at Elon Musk after he called her a “puppet” in response to her speech at the Milwaukee Kamala Harris rally.

The Bronx rapper has been in the spotlight since Friday, following her nine-minute address to Democratic voters. In the speech, Cardi took aim at Trump, calling him a “hustler” who continually tries to deceive the American people. While her passionate speech earned praise from many, the Tesla CEO criticized her in a scathing tweet. Musk responded to a post mocking Cardi for supposedly needing her phone to know what to say, a claim he appeared to endorse.

“Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words. The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy,” he wrote.

Not one to hold back, Cardi quickly responded, defending her right to speak on politics.

“I’m not a puppet, Elon,” she wrote. “I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty, and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you… But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle.”

Cardi wrapped up her message with a jab at Twitter, now X, which Musk took over to mixed reviews: “PS fix my algorithm.”
