DJ Envy and his family celebrated Halloween Eve with a nostalgic twist, bringing back the vibrant look and feel of Lil’ Kim’s 1997 “Crush on You” music video.

Yet, what started as a fun family homage quickly sparked heated reactions online, with many questioning Envy’s choice of costume for his young daughter, Brooklyn.

In a video posted on the Breakfast Club host’s Instagram, eight-year-old Brooklyn took center stage dressed as Lil’ Kim, complete with colorful wigs, fur coats, a daring outfits reminiscent of the original video.

The entire Casey family got in on the fun, with Envy, his wife Gia Casey, and their other children — Madison (23), Logan (21), London (11), Jaxson (10), and almost 3-year-old Peyton — dressing up as other artists featured in the video.

Jaxson played the role of Lil Cease, big sister London portrayed Aaliyah, and Envy himself appeared as Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell.

The post even included a FaceTime with Lil’ Kim herself, who gave her seal of approval for Brooklyn’s look.

DJ Envy captioned the video, “Happy Halloween Eve!!! Presenting [drumroll] ‘Crush On You’ The Casey Crew Edition! Enjoy!!! Shout out to @lilkimthequeenbee.”

Rapper Cardi B was quick to jump in the comments, praising Brooklyn’s confidence and flair, writing, “She took the assignment very serious SHE ATE THAT!!!” while Lil Scrappy added, “The baby got best actor inna film, she did that.”

However, as support rolled in from some, the majority of followers expressed discomfort with the costume choice and the mature themes it portrayed.

Fans voiced concern that the attire and song lyrics were unsuitable for Brooklyn’s age, noting that she lip-synced lyrics with lines like, “I’ll be undressed in a bra, all see-through” — even though she covered her mouth during explicit portions.

“I don’t know any decent parents who would be ok with their daughter in an outfit like this at 8 years old,” commented one user, with another adding, “Dope concept. Wrong delivery. #cringe.”
