Binance’s former CEO clarified his interest regarding any type of position at the Binance crypto exchange, despite the fact that his agreement with the U.S. authorities allows him to work at Binance.

In 2023, Binance and Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) faced multiple charges over providing crypto services in the U.S. jurisdiction without registering with the required regulatory bodies. As part of the settlement, Binance paid nearly $4 billion in fines, and CZ faced two months of jail time. As per the settlement agreement, CZ stepped down from the Binance CEO role. After completing two months of imprisonment, CZ has been focusing on his new educational initiative, Giggle Academy.

On 31 Oct 2024, CZ appeared at the Binance Blockchain Week event venue and said there is no agreement that permanently prohibits him from working at Binance, but the agreement may be updated; however, he has no intention of returning to the CEO position. Even if he is allowed to return to the CEO role, he probably won’t.

The Binance co-founder also shared some stories related to his recent imprisonment period, stating that there was nothing wrong with the other inmates; even some of them asked for better cryptocurrencies to buy. CZ clarified that there was no internet connection or resources to explain cryptocurrencies, so he was unable to give advice to people regarding the best cryptocurrencies.
