Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has shared a moving tribute for the late singer and revealed the poignant promise he made to her only weeks prior.
The 25-year-old US influencer had previously shared a brief statement in the wake of Payne’s death asking fans to give her “grace and space to navigate this in private.”
Now she has taken to Instagram with a carousel of sweet photos of her and Payne together. She also shared a photo of a heartfelt note Payne had written her weeks before he died telling her that he intended to marry her soon.

“Me and Kate to marry within a year / engaged and together forever,” the note read.
In her tribute, which was sandwiched between the carousel of photos, Cassidy shared the story behind the note.
“A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it,” she wrote.
“Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel,” she continued.

In her statement, Cassidy also shared that Payne was her “best friend and the love of [her] life” and opened up about the grief she was feeling.
“You are – because I can’t say were – my best friend, the love of my life and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into,” she wrote.

“None of this feels real and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I’m struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you be my side. Together, we got to be kids again, always finding joy in the smallest things.”
Cassidy and Payne started dated in 2022, first being linked on Halloween after they shared pictures dressed as Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee at a party.

The duo had been on holiday in Argentina in late September where they attended the show of Payne’s former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan. The couple spent two weeks together on their holiday before Cassidy flew back to the United States.
Two days after she left, Payne died after falling from the third floor of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Cassidy concluded her statement with an emotional message for Payne.
“I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go.”
