Teddi Mellencamp gets candid about being fired from RHOBH and how it initally made her feel “not good enough.”
Teddi Mellencamp may not have been everyone’s cup of tea on RHOBH. Yet, she is one of the few Real Housewives who admitted to being fired from Bravo after she was not asked back for season 11 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2020.
After Bravo fired Teddi Mellencamp from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the 43-year-old posted a video on Instagram admitting that it wasn’t her decision to leave the show.
“I don’t want to bore you, but I figured I’ve got to give you a little update on what’s going on,” Teddi said in a 2020 video. “I recently found out that my contract as a Housewife is not being renewed.”
She continued, “Of course, I could give you the standard response of ‘Oh, we both came to the decision that it would be best …’ Nah, I’m not gonna do that. That’s not who I am.”
Four years later, Teddi, who has successfully pivoted from reality TV star to podcaster, opened up about the emotional rollercoaster she endured following her firing from RHOBH.
Teddi admits that the transition from Real Housewives was not easy, especially since she didn’t leave RHOBH on her own accord.
On her and Tamra Judge’s Two Ts in a Pod podcast, Teddi reflected on her exit from the hit Bravo show.
The mom of three explains that she put on a brave face for the public but was an emotional, hot mess behind the scenes. Teddi admits she didn’t feel great about leaving RHOBH and admits her firing made her question herself.
“When I didn’t get asked back, I kept thinking I’m not good enough,” Teddi confessed, noting that she kept asking herself, “Why am I not good enough? Like, why am I not special enough?”
After some time, the RHOBH alum realized that it wasn’t about her not being “good enough” but more about the rat race that is reality TV.
Now, Teddi realizes that she gave it her all on RHOBH while remaining true to herself.
“I think that’s where I found a lot of peace is knowing, I’m going to work really hard. If you put me in a line of people, I will work harder than 95 percent of them. But also know it’s okay for not everyone to like you,” Teddi explained.
Teddi joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills during season 8 and starred on the show for three seasons before her exit. She has since appeared on the show numerous times as a guest. Thanks to her friendship with star Tamra Judge, Teddi has also appeared on the Real Housewives of Orange County.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is expected to return for season 14 in late 2024 or early 2025.
