Former NFL MVP Cam Newton made his second appearance on ESPN’s morning show, “First Take.” Newton surprised Stephen A Smith and the crew when he spoke about the Cowboys. To Smith’s surprise, he started barking as he explained what the Cowboys were missing.
“That’s what we need in Dallas,” Newton shared excitedly. “Some dogs! I only see one of them.. we need some dogs on the offensive side of the ball. I’ve been extremely pleased with Ceedee Lamb this year. I don’t know what Troy Aikman is talking about. I can’t confirm or deny what he said is factual. What I will tell you is this: Can somebody else take over a game other than Ceedee Lamb on the Cowboys offense?”
Aikman appeared in 96.7 The Ticket’s “The Musers” on Thursday. He mentioned that horrible routes are being run by the Cowboys’ wideouts.
“I think the routes are terrible. I think they run terrible routes. And I’ve thought that beyond this year. I think Ceedee Lamb has got to improve in his route running. As a quarterback, if you’re not certain where guys are going to be consistent, it’s hard to play the position. That’s what I see. I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, and usually, if they do, it becomes they’re anticipating they’re going to get the football on that play, but if they’re not, they don’t. And it all ties together. I’m not impressed with that part of it,” Aikman explained.
Aikman criticized Lamb’s performance after he managed only 32 receptions for 467 yards and two touchdowns over the first seven weeks of the season, during which the offense struggled.
