Safaree Samuels has taken steps to modify his child support payments to his ex-wife Erica Mena.

According to documents obtained by In Touch, Safaree filed a petition in Georgia court in June 2023, explaining that their divorce settlement reached in 2022 already covered all key issues, including custody of their two children and a monthly child support payment of $4,305.

Safaree’s petition highlights significant changes in his circumstances since the divorce, particularly regarding his income and parenting time.

He stated that he no longer earns the $61,157 monthly income previously reported and pointed out that he has been spending more time with the children—averaging three to four weeks of physical custody each month.

Safaree’s lawyer argued, “Specifically, [Safaree] has greater parenting time exceeding the prescribed 12 days. [Safaree] has the minor children in his physical custody on average 3-4 weeks consistently during his time”

The attorney underscored that his previous role as a main cast member on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta has changed, impacting his ability to secure similar bookings, which has contributed to a “significant loss of income.”

Moreover, Safaree accused Erica of launching a public campaign against him on social media, where she referred to him as a “deadbeat” and attacked “his parenting skills without reason” to her millions of followers.

He claims this has affected his opportunities for work, particularly because his audience is largely female.

In light of these factors, Safaree is seeking to lower his child support payments and is asking Erica to cover his legal fees. The case has seen no developments since June 2023.

Meanwhile, Erica responded to Safaree’s recent comments about his past relationship with Nicki Minaj, stating that he doesn’t show the same concern for their children in his public statements. She expressed embarrassment over having given him two “beautiful babies.”

Erica said, “He don’t even talk or care about his seeds this much online or in real life.”
