On the very same day she is set to release her brand new album ‘Tension II’, the BBC have announced the global pop icon Kylie Minogue will read the nation a CBeebies Bedtime Story this coming Friday (October 18th 2024).

As children across the country get all cosy and snuggly, Minogue will read the timeless classic ‘Goodnight Moon’ written by Margaret Wise Brown, and illustrated Clement Hurd – a bedtime story which has lulled generations of children to sleep.

Originally published on September 3rd, 1947 the highly acclaimed fable follows a little bunny as he settles down to sleep in a pleasant, quiet bedroom. As the bunny prepares for bed, he says goodnight to various objects and characters in his room, including a red balloon, a picture of a cow jumping over the moon, a pair of kittens, and the old lady whispering “hush”.

The book’s simple, rhythmic text and gentle illustrations create a calming atmosphere that helps children wind down before bedtime. It’s celebrated for its soothing tone and repetitive phrasing, making it a comforting story for young readers and listeners alike.

Of her involvement in the much loved family series, the ‘Lights Camera Action’ singer says: “It was a real pleasure to read ‘Goodnight Moon’ as my first CBeebies Bedtime Story. Just like the bunny in the book who says ‘goodnight’ to all the familiar things in their room, I like to say ‘thank you’ to rooms that I’ve been in just as I leave. Sweet dreams!”

According to the BBC, this is the first of two stories Kylie has recorded for CBeebies, with details of her second story yet to be revealed.

CBeebies Bedtime Story is on each weekday at 6.50pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
