Demi Moore has spoken candidly about her ex-husband Bruce Willis’ battle with frontotemporal dementia.

Moore, 61, spoke at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival and said she tries her best to stay focused on the present with Bruce, 69.

“What I always encourage is to just meet them where they’re at. When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game,” she admitted, per People.

She said he is in a “stable” condition and added: ”The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is.”

The actress added there’s “great beauty and sweetness” in meeting someone with the disease where they’re at.

Willis was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, before being additionally diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

The news shocked the world as his family put on a united front.

In March 2022, his family shared a heartbreaking statement saying that the actor, 69, was quitting Hollywood and “stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him”.

“This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support,” they said.

“We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.

“As Bruce always says, ‘live it up’ and together we plan to do just that.”

Rumer Willis and Bruce Willis

Their daughter Rumer recently told Fox News Digital the family often share updates on Bruce to perhaps give others hope if they’re going through the same thing.

“I think, for me, through this experience, what’s been so incredible is my dad is so beloved, and that’s been so evident in the transparency with which we’ve been sharing,” she said.

“And I think if there’s any way sharing our experience brings hope – whatever comes forward as a family – that can have an effect and bring any sort of hope, comfort to someone else experiencing that, then to me, that’s … everything.”
