“If you’re married and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s–t. Get out of that marriage.”

Stewart’s remark prompted a question from a producer off-camera who asked: “Didn’t you have an affair early on?”

“Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that,” Stewart replied.

Stewart married the publisher in 1961. They share daughter Alexis Stewart, 59, who they welcomed in 1965.

After nearly 30 years of marriage, they separated in 1987 and divorced in 1990.

The cooking guru has not since remarried.

Stewart told People in 2020 the pair had not spoken since the divorce, which she admitted was “even more painful”.

Later in the trailer, Stewart posed the question, “What is more important? A marriage? Or a career?”, answering herself with, “I don’t know”.

“The cookie-cutter house and the cookie-cutter life, that was not for me,” she admitted.

“I have two mottos. Learn something new everyday, and when you’re through changing, you’re through.”

“I could’ve just been a miserable, has-been housewife, but I didn’t let that happen to myself. And i’m so happy I didn’t,” Stewart said.

The documentary teases everything from Stewart discussing her career and becoming the first self-made female billionaire in America, to her stint in prison in the noughties.

The Netflix documentary is directed by R.J. Cutler, known for his work on the drama film If I Stay and the documentaries for pop star Billie Eilish and music icon Elton John.

Stewart is best known for authoring many cookbooks and hosting her own television programs over the years.
