The actor, who is now 45, spoke on the Today Show about how his life has changed.
“I would say that when I was using drugs, life for me was Murphy’s law. Like anything that could go wrong went wrong and now that I got clean, I’m just in tune with life and it’s almost the exact opposite,” he shared.
“Anything that can happen right is kind of happening in my sobriety. And that the getting back on the ice for the first time in 30 years is a prime example of that.”

“I don’t think there was any way that I could have known what it would turn into and what the impact would be, especially all these years later.
“And definitely, I couldn’t have predicted how meaningful the support of the fans would have been in my own life. So it’s really just been a blessing being a part of something that people have such fond memories of.

“I’m just lucky that I was able to get into treatment and come out,” he added.
