Maggie Baird, actress and mother of sibling singing and songwriting duo Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, has reacted to claims her daughter is a “nepo baby” after a clip of her appearing in Friends circulated.
The short clip in question was posted in June, and featured Baird as a casting director on a season six episode of Friends, acting alongside Matt LeBlanc.
The clip spurred questions from fans, with some asking, “So Billie is a Nepo Baby?”

It caused her son to comment on the post and defend his mother, with Finneas writing, “Ah yes, the classic, 1 day of work on 1 episode of friends to make someone rich and famous- the whole gag of this video is none of you had any idea at all who she was.”
Now Baird is speaking out about the ordeal, telling Glamour magazine in an interview, “That came out, and it was like, ‘Oh, Billie is a nepo baby.’

“And I’m like, ‘Did you know that I got that episode of Friends because I was about to lose my health insurance?'”
She says both she and her husband, Patrick O’Connell, were ”working class actors.”

Baird has also appeared in An Innocent Man, Crashbox, Bird of Prey, The X-Files, and more, while Patrick has been seen in Iron Man and The West Wing.
But they never made enough to make a living out of their craft, let alone be famous, Baird claims.
“We eked out a meager living,” she continued, “and it afforded us a lot of time with our kids, which was awesome.”

“People don’t really understand there’s a whole industry of people who are creative and they’re working and they’re struggling, and they make perfectly happy lives, and they feel creative, and they feel fulfilled.
“But that’s a very different life than on this side of the door where you’re suddenly playing in this different arena.”
She added that many people in the entertainment industry never experience a huge level of fame, or anything akin to the fame her two children happened to have experienced.

Eilish and Finneas encountered fame when her 2015 debut song Ocean Eyes gained traction after being uploaded to Soundcloud.
The sibling duo are now owners of multiple awards for their work, including Grammy and Academy Awards.
