We’re off to see The Wizard of Oz at ZACH Theater! Get ready for cowboy boots, disco balls and a wicked good time. ZACH’s reimagined telling of this story through Kansas and the Emerald City is full of surprises. Here’s everything you need to know about the family friendly show!
Cowboy Boots, Disco Balls, ZACH Theater, Oh My!
As they did for Waitress and The Sound of Music, ZACH is offering on stage seating with their 360 Experience. Hot tip, book a seat at the tables and you might get pulled into the yellow brick road during the pre-show or the actual performance. And no matter where you are seated, you can donate any amount to the theater and get your name or message written on a brick. Upon entering the lobby, you are met with the start of the yellow brick road which continues into the theater and onto the stage.

Producing Artistic Director, Dave Steakley, is entering his 35th season at ZACH Theater and he does an incredible job on this production. Along with musical director Allen Robertson, they bring a completely new look, sound and feel to this beloved story. From the immersive stage and theater (book a seat in row J for a whimsical experience), to the exciting choreography by Josh Assor, to the uber talented cast, this rendition will leave you feeling like you are over the rainbow.
Meet The Cast of Wizard of Oz
A few leads are making their ZACH debuts: Moira Poh (Dorothy), Raphe Gilliam (Scarecrow), and Elora Von Rosch (Wicked Witch). Returning favorite Ryan Everett Wood immediately wins the audience over as the Cowardly Lion and Connor Coughlin dazzles and taps as the Tin Man. Meanwhile, Gilliam embodies grace even through the clumsiness of the Scarecrow.

Aerialist and ensemble member Jenna Napolitano twirls in her debut! Keep an eye out for the twister. Mariel Ardila is the perfect Glinda, and Von Rosch brings incredible comedic timing to her role as Gulch/ Wicked Witch. Poh delivers an exuberant Dorothy with a beautiful voice. Finally, the munchkins and ensemble bring color and excitement to the entire performance. Oh, and as usual, the onstage musicians never miss a beat.
Here are a few more tips. Arrive 30 minutes early to explore the art exhibition in the lobby and catch the musical pre-show in the theater. If bringing kids, be aware that the full experience is about three hours. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase and can be brought to your seats. ZACH offers a party pack for $25 to be used throughout the performance for a true immersive experience. Western wear and costumes are encouraged.
