Kate Beckinsale announces the death of her actress mother Judy Loe following a cancer battle: ‘She died in my arms’

Kate Beckinsale has shared the sad news of her mother Judy Loe’s death.

The English actress, 51, shared the devastating personal news on her Instagram account, saying she was announcing Loe’s death as it “will soon become public record”.

In her post, Beckinsale said she was “paralysed” with grief following her mother’s death following a cancer battle and added: “Jude was the compass of my life, the love of my life, my dearest friend.”

Beckinsale said her mother, who was also an actress, died in her arms on July 15.

“I don’t want to post this. I am only posting this because I have had to register my mother’s death certificate and it will soon become public record,” she began.

“She died the night of July 15th in my arms after immeasurable suffering.”

“I am paralysed. Jude was the compass of my life, the love of my life, my dearest friend,” she said.

“She has been brave in so many ways, forgiving sometimes too much, believing in the ultimate good in people and the world is so dim without her.

“It is nearly impossible to bear.

“Mama, I love you so much. This has been my greatest fear since finding my father dead at five and I am here. Oh my Mama.. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I am so sorry.”

The news comes a week after Beckinsale shared a heartbreaking video of herself singing to her mother in hospital.

The Underworld star, 51, comforted her with The Everly Brothers’ 1958 song Bye, Bye Love, revealing her mum used to sing in a “harmony group” as a teen and thought it’d be nice to sing to her.

Before her death, Loe had battled stage four cancer but the exact cause for staying in hospital was unclear.
