John Farnham has become a grandfather for the first time!
On the occasion of his 76th birthday, the Aussie music icon‘s agency has confirmed his son James and his partner Dr Tessa Effendi have welcomed a baby boy.
“James Farnham and his partner Dr Tessa Effendi are thrilled to announce the arrival of their first baby,” they said in a statement to nine.com.au.

“Arriving ahead of the expected date of birth, the baby boy named Jett John Farnham was born at 5.26pm on Wednesday June 18 at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Melbourne, weighing 3.176Kgs,” the statement continued, sharing that the baby was names after the legendary singer.
The new parents James and Tessa said, “We thought we were excited to meet him – but turns out he was even more excited to meet us, arriving a little ahead of schedule.
“Jett is our whole world in one tiny, noisy, perfect package. We’re smitten, we’re sleep-deprived, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Meanwhile, first time grandparents John Farnham and wife Jill shared, “We are over the moon about the arrival of this perfectly beautiful little boy.
“He’s already filled our hearts with so much love and we’re so proud and happy for James and Tessa. Welcome to the world, Jett!”
James first revealed the news of the pregnancy six months ago on social media.

Taking to his Instagram account, the 36-year-old shared a video of a beautiful cake with “Coming 2025” written on it.
After taking out a match, lighting it, and then setting the top of the cake on fire, the top burned away to reveal a message underneath, reading, “Boy”, indicating that he would be having a son with his partner.
The happy news follows a long battle with cancer for the You’re the Voice singer who was first diagnosed with the disease in August 2022.

He recently revealed in his new memoir The Voice Inside, an excerpt of which was featured in Good Weekend, that during the 12-hour-long operation, “someone from the medical team called Jillian a couple of times while I was in theatre – apparently I was very close to dying.
“Spoiler: As we all know, I survived the surgery,” the singer humorously added. One year on from this surgery and after many more, he revealed he was officially cancer free.
