Jimmy Barnes‘ wife, Jane Mahoney, has given fans a heartwarming update after the rocker’s latest surgery.
The Aussie singer, who has endured a gruelling years-long health battle, told fans over the weekend that he would be undergoing a hip replacement.
Now, Mahoney has informed fans via X that Barnes’ surgery is complete and his “surgeons are happy”.

“Hi everyone, @jane13barnes here,” she wrote alongside a photo of the singer in his hospital bed, eating a bowl of soup.
“Relieved to let you know that our Jimmy has had his hip op. Surgeons are happy and no ICU, so we’re off to a good start.
“No turntable allowed yet but good home cooking was on the menu. Bone broth and chicken soup with our organic potatoes and spinach for iron.
“Jimmy says thank you for all the well wishes.”

Last week, Barnes informed fans of the surgery, explaining in a candid X post that it was “actually good news.”
“My incredible doctors have just cleared me to go back in next week to have my hip replaced with a permanent joint. Hooray!” he cheered.
“I’m obviously not looking forward to more surgery, but believe it or not, it’s actually good news.

“It might surprise you all to know that I’m not a good patient, so apologies in advance to my darling Jane [who] is going to be back in nursing mode for the next few weeks.
“But the temporary hip that I had in there for the last few months did its job and it got me through the amazing Cold Chisel’ Big Five-0′ tour.

“I’d like to send out a big thank you to the very talented physios who strapped me up like I was in the grand final every night. That got me through the shows.”
Less than six months ago, the Cold Chisel lead left hospital to have a medical tube removed from his arm after a long recovery stint from a separate incident.
“I’ve had what they call a PICC line in my arm delivering antibiotics from a portable bottle 24/7 for 6 weeks,” he said.
“It’s meant that I could leave hospital and continue most of my recovery at home. It’s been restricting and liberating at the same time.

“This part of my recovery is now over and with the help of Drs, nurses, physiotherapists, family, friends, you guys and my Jane everything is on track.
“Rehearsing with @coldchiselofficial this week has topped things off. I can even get back behind the wheel. Aah! FREEDOM.”
The star began his health battle in November 2023 after being diagnosed with a bacterial infection and later undergoing open heart surgery in December.

“Unfortunately I got some bad news yesterday… despite everyone’s best efforts the bacterial infection I’ve been battling over the last fortnight has apparently now spread to my heart,” Barnes wrote at the time.
“It’s infected an otherwise healthy valve that was replaced some years ago due to a congenital defect, so I’ll be getting open-heart surgery over the next few hours to clear out this infection and put in a clean valve.”
“Just a few weeks ago I was the fittest I’ve been in decades… This has all happened very suddenly, so it’s going to take a few days for everyone to figure out what’s going to be doable with my upcoming shows.”
