Jessica Alba files for divorce under a month after announcing separation

Jessica Alba has filed for divorce from her ex-husband Cash Warren after announcing their separation less than one month ago.

Court documents obtained by Us Weekly and dated February 7 show that the former couple are asking the court to determine which of their property is community property, which will have to be divided.

The parents are asking for joint physical and legal custody of their children, Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and Hayes, six.

The date of separation was listed as December 27, 2024, about three weeks before they announced the news to the world.

The 43-year-old actress listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, according to documents shared by the Daily Mail, with the Honey star returning to the use of her maiden name after the divorce is finalised.

In announcing the separation, the actress released a statement to her fans.

“I’ve been on a journey of self realisation and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” she wrote in a statement to her followers on Instagram.

“I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.

“We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”

Warren has remained silent in the wake of the news.

Alba and Warren first met on the set of Fantastic Four back in 2004 where Alba starred as Sue Storm (otherwise known as the Invisible Woman) and Warren was working as a director’s assistant.

They hit it off and three years later in 2007, they announced they were expecting their first child together. By December that same year the pair were engaged, and they tied the knot on May 19, 2008 ahead of the birth of their daughter in June.

The private ceremony was at the Beverly Hills courthouse. They applied for a marriage license shortly after arriving at 11.30am and wed 40 minutes later by a courthouse official.
