Legendary actor Christopher Benjamin has died at the age of 90.
The news of the beloved star, who was best known for his roles in Doctor Who and Poldark, was announced in a devastating post on social media.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Christopher Benjamin, at the age of 90, on the 10th January,” Lisa Bowerman wrote on X.

“One of the few remaining ‘old school’ actors, he had a huge and extensive career spanning seventy years, encompassing theatre, radio, TV and film.”
Benjamin was born on December 27, 1934, in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, and began acting at a young age.
The actor amassed a long list of credits in television series of the ’60s, including The Avengers, Z Cars, The Saint, and The Forsyte Saga.

Throughout the ’70s, Benjamin starred in Ace of Wands, Upstairs Downstairs and Father Brown among more before taking on roles later in life, including Pride and Prejudice, Treasure Island, and The Tomorrow People.

Benjamin’s most recent credit was in 2008. He portrayed a modern Doctor Who character alongside David Tennant in The Unicorn and Wasp.
Tributes have started rolling in on social media, with publishing agency Fantom Events & Publishing honouring the actor.

Benjamin is survived by his wife and fellow actress Anna Fox, whom he married in 1960 and shares three children with.
