Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” used AI technology to generate verses in the voices of both Snoop and Tupac Shakur. The track stirred significant controversy, especially after Snoop shared it on Instagram, asking followers about the buzz surrounding it. Lamar responded in his song “Wacced Out Murals” on “GNX,” rapping, “Snoop posted ‘Taylor Made,’ I prayed it was the edibles/I couldn’t believe it, it was only right for me to let it go.”

In a conversation with Bootleg Kev, he explained how the incident unfolded and how it impacted his relationship with Kendrick. Snoop admitted Kendrick had every right to express his frustration, acknowledging his responsibility as an elder figure in hip-hop.

“That’s my nephew; he’s a rapper, man, he’s supposed to speak his mind and tell his truth,” Snoop stated. “That’s the way he felt, and he has the right to say that. I’m his big homeboy, so I have to take what’s given to me from his perspective because he’s speaking truth. And the truth shouldn’t hurt you; it should make you better.”

He added, “I’m one to accept truth when it’s brought to me directly. He feels that I shouldn’t have played that. ‘Damn, I was on them edibles, my n***a; I gotta be more careful. You right, nephew.’”

Snoop further explained how he ended up in the situation, admitting he hadn’t fully paid attention to the song in the collaborative post. His focus at the time was on promoting his Gin & Juice brand, not realizing the post featured Drake’s AI-assisted diss track. Once Lamar expressed his disappointment, Snoop called to apologize, leaving a voicemail to mend the situation.

At ComplexCon, Snoop also emphasized that he wasn’t taking sides in the Drake and Lamar beef. It’s unclear if Lamar accepted his apology. Meanwhile, Drake has spoken on Snoop’s stance.
