Dominique Brown, a beloved Disney-inspired influencer, passed away on December 5th after accidentally consuming food she was allergic to during a BoxLunch industry event.
According to reports, she suffered a severe reaction after eating the food there, though it’s unknown exactly what it was. Multiple influencers have claimed event hosts were informed of her allergies. BoxLunch has yet to comment.
Brown, known online as HellooDomo, co-created BlackGirlDisney in 2018 alongside Mia Von to address the lack of representation in the Disney influencer community. The platform fostered a welcoming space for women of color who love Disney films and theme parks.
Her brother expressed gratitude to her fans via her final Instagram post.
“Hi everyone, this is @pramos313 – Dominique’s brother,” he wrote on December 6th. “Thank you for showing her so much love and light. Disney brought her joy, but finding a community who shared her passion was unparalleled. I will miss my sister and best friend and that infectious smile she always had.”
Many Disney influencers mourned Brown in heartfelt tributes. Tatiana Kelley wrote, “The kindest, most genuine person… we will miss you, Domo.” Katy Lane shared, “Your positivity and passion for life will always inspire me.”
“Kicks at the Castle,” a Disney sneaker podcast, praised her warmth and joy, calling her story “a Disney fairytale.” Isaiah Campbell, a fellow community member, posted, “I will always love you, Dominique Brown. Thank you for the joy you gave me and others.”
Brown was just 34 years old.
