Thanks to one brief mid-concert moment, Chris Martin has found himself at the centre of a drama dominating headlines and group chats worldwide.

And it seems the Coldplay frontman immediately realised the gravity of the situation, with videos revealing what he said and did next.

During the band’s Boston concert on Wednesday night, a man and woman in the audience – wrapped in one another’s arms – were beamed onto the jumbotron screen as the singer declared, “Ooh, look at these two”.

When a look of horror crossed their faces and they promptly separated, hiding from view, the frontman couldn’t help but crack a joke.

“Uh oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” he quipped into the mic.

From there, the situation exploded.

The pair have since been identified by media publications as co-workers – Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the firm’s chief human resources officer, Kristin Cabot.

Chris Martin of Coldplay performs on a stop of the band's Music of the Spheres world tour at Allegiant Stadium on June 06, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At the time of publishing, neither party have confirmed their appearance at the concert and 9Honey is not suggesting any allegations of an affair are true.

Regardless, the story has gone global, and social media is alight with speculation over the nature of the pair’s relationship.

So, how did Martin respond to his part in all this?

Well, other concert videos suggest he quickly realised the potential fallout of that seconds-long moment on the kiss cam.

In an additional video taken right after the jumbotron encounter, the frontman could be heard saying with a laugh, “I’m not quite sure what to do. Holy s–t. I hope we didn’t do something bad.”

Further footage from the concert has emerged, which shows Martin addressing another pair beamed onto the jumbotron by the roaming cameras.

“OK, now, listen. Are you two a couple? Are you two a legitimate couple?” he asked, as the audience laughed.

Martin regularly engages with audience members during Coldplay concerts as their faces are projected onto the screens.

Safe to say it’s usually an extremely wholesome part of the show, but there’s a first time for everything.

Martin is yet to publicly acknowledge the drama surrounding his ‘kiss cam’ moment, so watch this space.
