The 36-year-old, who was born in South Africa but lives in Australia, recalled the incident on her Life Academy podcast.

“I was in a huge car accident. I am miraculously fine,” she said.
“I was going at the speed limit, wasn’t looking at my phone… was driving responsibly… at 60km… I lost control of the wheel and started to skid across the other side of the road and it was really dark, there was no lights,” she explained.
“Then I think I pressed brake…. and next thing I knew, the car was just tumbling down the embankment, down a hill. I was fully conscious for all of it.
“[The car was] flipping, it did three rolls.”

She said she felt like she was in “slow motion” during the crash.
“Time just slowed down and I was just rolling in the car. It was weird. I could hear how violent it was, but because of the airbags and the cushioning in the car it wasn’t painful,” she said.
“This voice in my head was like, and I think this was probably thanks to dancing, ‘Surrender, let your body go with the movement of the car.’
“So I let go of the wheel. I felt a huge sense of surrender.”
