Sir Rod Stewart is happily married to model-turned-police constable Penny Lancaster.
But the iconic crooner, 80, has reflected on his past marriage to Kiwi model Rachel Hunter, 55, in a candid new interview.
Speaking to The Times, Stewart said the couple’s more than 20-year age gap led to their split, saying their marriage ended “because she was too young” and that it “tore me to shreds”.

The pair met when Hunter was 21 years old and tied the knot three months later in December 1990. But they split in 1999 and finalised their divorce in 2006.
“Rachel left me because she was too young – my sister said I should never have married her in the first place – but it tore me to shreds,” Stewart said.
“Now I’m with Penny and she’s got everything I could possibly want.”

“She was an incredible dancer, gorgeous, 6ft 4in heels, ai-yi-yi.”
Rod married Penny Lancaster in Portofino in 2007. It is his third marriage.
His first wife was American actress and model Alana Stewart.
