Keanu Reeves has gone viral for his appearance at the Tony Awards on Sunday night – and he wasn’t even the one performing.

His The Matrix Resurrections co-star Jonathan Groff took the opportunity during his own live performance at the 2025 ceremony to play out a “sensual” move.

As Groff performed Mack The Knife from his Bobby Darin musical Just In Time, he leapt onto the chair Reeves was sitting on, balancing on the arm rests.

A well-placed camera captured Reeves’ surprised expression between Groff’s legs, becoming even more so as Groff caressed his face and down his chest.

Despite being confused, Reeve’s managed to do a “rock out” symbol with his hands before Groff leapt off and continued his performance.

Glee star Groff received a standing ovation for the performance, including from his co-star and fellow nominee Gracie Lawrence as well as close friend Lea Michele.

Fans watching at home also had a similar reaction.

“Watching Jonathan Groff sensually live on the side of Keanu Reeves’ face on live television might have been my Roman Empire,” said one fan on X, formerly Twitter.

“Jonathan Groff flirting with and singing to Keanu Reeves wasn’t something I had on my Tony’s bingo card, but I’m here for it,” said another.
