Harry Potter star Tom Felton confirms he’s reprising Draco Malfoy role after 14 years: ‘Guess who’s back’

Jun 5, 2025

An original Harry Potter star is reprising his role – but not as you might think.

Over 14 years after the final movie installment came out in 2011, Tom Felton, 37, has announced he’s returning to Hogwarts as Harry’s nemesis Draco Malfoy.

Rather than returning to the big screen, Felton will be playing an older version of Draco in the Broadway stage production, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

“Guess who’s back,” Felton wrote in a post shared with his 11.9 million followers.

In the theatrical clip, the actor is dressed in character with Draco’s signature blonde hair.

“Scared, Potter?” Felton says at the end – giving Harry Potter fans all the nostalgia by reprising a line he said back in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2002.

Felton will reprise his role from November 11 for a 19-week run.

Speaking of his return to Today, Felton said “it’s very, very easy to get emotional”.

“When they put my blond wig on for the theater production, I just immediately cried.”

The actor explained ”it was something that I never thought I’d see again.”

Based on the story by Jack Thorne, J. K. Rowling, and John Tiffany, the story follows Harry and Draco’s sons, with both the original characters also starring.

The show made its premiere in 2016 in London.
