“I’m dating somebody,” she said.
“He’s very kind to me, he’s taking good care of me. He’s nice … he’s not married, he doesn’t have any kids. But he’s also a private person.”
The photos, which were ultimately published the same day the podcast dropped, showed a man wearing sunglasses and covered in tattoos wrapping his arms around the mum-of-three.
Mellencamp then explained that part of her decision to conceal the man’s name came down to his privacy values.

She explained the couple discussed his level of privacy before she revealed the news.
“I asked him, like, ‘Do I even say your name?’ and he’s, like, ‘it’s really whatever you want to do, like, I know you’re a public person,'” she said.
She also shared that when they met, her new partner didn’t know of her public profile.

“It’s one of my favourite things to ask, ‘How long I got? What are my chances?’ And they oftentimes say 50/50,” she explained.
