Bindi Irwin has given an update on her recovery after undergoing emergency surgery in the US.
The 26-year-old was rushed into surgery to remove her appendix, but at the same time doctors also removed 14 endometriosis lesions.

“Thank you for your incredible words of support and kindness,” she continued.
“The reason I share my health journey is because more girls and women desperately need answers to their undiagnosed pain.
“I’ve battled with endometriosis for more than 12 years. This disease is crippling and can make you feel incredibly isolated.
“We need to raise awareness and change the narrative for women’s health. I see you, your pain is real, and you deserve answers and genuine health care.”

Bindi ended her post with a link to the Endometriosis Foundation of America.
The beloved ‘wildlife warrior’ was in Las Vegas for the annual Steve Irwin Gala on May 10, but was forced to miss the event after she was rushed to hospital in excruciating pain.
Bindi had her appendix removed as well as “14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed and they kindly stitched up my hernia as well” she later shared on social media.
Her brother Robert Irwin was the one who broke the news that she was in hospital for emergency surgery while at the gala event, but Bindi shared a message from her hospital bed a couple of days later.
“Hey guys, Bindi here, I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible well-wishes,” she said.
“I just got out of surgery about an hour ago.
“I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed. And they kindly stitched up my hernia as well.”
She continued by thanking her doctor and medical staff at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York, saying she is “forever grateful” to them for their care of her and thanked everyone for their support.
“I’m sorry if I’m a little out of it in this video, but I just wanted you to know that I’m on the road to recovery, one step at a time, and I was so lucky to have so much love in my life,” she continued.
The 21-year-old son of the late Crocodile Hunter explained that his sister was raced into emergency surgery after her appendix ruptured on May 10, the same day as the Gala in Las Vegas.
“She’s going to be OK, but surgery – out of all the things we were ready for, that was not one of them,” Robert told People
“She’s just come out the other side of endometriosis and now the appendix goes,” he added. Robert stressed that health is so important to their family, and Bindi originally just tried to push through the pain.
“She came to Las Vegas and was ready to come to the gala, put on a brave face in a lot of discomfort and a lot of pain and said, ‘Nope, I’m just going to tough it out, I’m going to go for it,’ ” Robert explained.
“But the surgeon said, ‘No, your appendix is going. That thing’s gotta come out.’ Health has to come first.”
