Madonna once revealed the one A-lister she considered to be the love of her life.
Now, in a new interview 34 later, the Hollywood star in question has responded.
Sean Penn sat down with Louis Theroux for the latter’s podcast series when Theroux brought up what Madonna famously said all those years ago.
Madonna named Penn when asked who the love of her life was in her 1991 documentary Madonna: Truth or Dare, which came out after their 1998 divorce.

Theroux brought up the documentary moment on the podcast, asking Penn if he remembered what his ex-wife has said about him.
“I remember what she said,” Penn confirmed, adding the singer was “very sweet”.
“She’s been a good friend for a lot of years,” the actor continued.
“It didn’t take us long to realise that we had mistaken a good first date for a wedding partner,” he said, prompting a chuckle from Theroux.
“And it didn’t take us long to recover after we got divorced, maybe a year, in a friendship.”
Penn said he had “a lot of fond memories of it”, adding “it’s not all jail”.
