Kim Kardashian made a defiant statement as she stepped out in Paris to testify in her robbery trial on Tuesday, May 13.

The reality star, 44, arrived at a Paris courthouse to face the alleged assailants of the 2016 robbery that stunned the world; where she begged for her life as masked men bound her with zip ties and stole over $US6 million ($9.36 million) in jewellery.

Kardashian wore a black blazer and matching long skirt, but the major statement was the huge diamond necklace she proudly wore around her neck.

According to People, the necklace is $US1.5 million (approximately $2.3 million) diamond necklace from renowned designer, Samer Halimeh New York.

The necklace is made from 18K white gold and with 80 diamonds with a total of 52.17 carats, weighs around 57 grams.

In the years that followed the robbery, Kardashian had avoided wearing jewellery and wouldn’t even keep valuables at home anymore.

But her appearance on Tuesday appeared to be a symbol of Kardashian reclaiming her power, making a stand against the very people who are alleged to have taken it from her.

As she arrived to testify, Kardashian also wore an $US8000 (approximately $12,500) diamond ear cuff made of 18K.

Lorel Diamonds jewellery expert Laura Taylor told People that Kardashian’s choice to wear such extravagant jewellery when coming face-to-face with the people who robbed her for the first time since, “feels very intentional”.

“She knew the cameras would be there, the images would be shared globally, and in typical Kim fashion, she made sure she was in control of how she was seen,” said Taylor.

“It’s not about status or showing off, it’s about closure, control, and showing that fear no longer decides how she presents herself.”

The Skims founder was joined in court by her mum, Kris Jenner, who wore a patterned monochrome suit with a pair of sunglasses.

Kardashian is testifying in the trial of 10 people on charges related to the robbery, half of whom are considered to be alleged accomplices.

Back in 2016 she was tied up, held at gunpoint and locked in a bathroom as thieves allegedly stole two diamond Cartier bracelets, a gold and diamond Jacob necklace, Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings, a gold Rolex and a $4 million (approximately $6 million) dollar ring gifted by ex-husband Kanye West among other belongings.
