Actress Ashley Judd has recalled the final conversation she had with her late country music star mother Naomi Judd as she died in her arms.
As reported by US outlets including Page Six and People, Ashley recalls in The Judd Family: Truth Be Told Lifetime docuseries that she comforted her mother in her final moments after “she had harmed herself” in the bedroom of her home.
“The first thing I said to her was, ‘It’s OK, it’s OK. I’ve seen how much you’ve been suffering,'” Ashley said.

“And we just breathed together, and I talked to her and told her how much I loved her, and it’s OK to go.”
The iconic singer died by suicide in Tennessee in April 2022 at the age of 76.
Ashley added that she wanted to make sure her mother felt no “guilt” or “shame” before her death.

“I was holding her hand. I was kissing her. She was so soft. She smelled so pretty,” she reportedly added.
Ashley said earlier that day, before Naomi’s death, she had received a text from her that asked for “help” and she went to her mother’s house.
Naomi, who enjoyed a successful musical career, battled mental illness before her death.
Ashley’s new revelation comes after she broke her leg from grief-induced clumsiness after the loss of her mother.

“Clumsiness is associated with grief, and there were other people in our family, after mom died, who fell down stairs and had accidents, and that’s just what mine happened to look like,” she said at an Open Mind lecture series to UCLA professor Dr. Jonathan Flint.
“It really allowed me to grieve. It really allowed me to stop what I was working on at that moment and to grieve.”
