Supercars champion James Courtney has some heartwarming news.
The sporting pro has announced the birth of his first child with wife Tegan ahead of the Australian Grand Prix weekend.
The announcement was made in a touching Instagram post, which revealed the name and first photo of their new arrival.

“Opal Alice Courtney ✨ Born at 7:44 AM on 03.03.25 💕 Our hearts are full, and our family is complete 🫶🏼🪽🎀,” they wrote.
Fans were quick to flood the comment section with messages of congratulations and well-wishes.
“Oh wow look at that hair!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️ how beautiful congratulations guys she’s absolutely adorable,” one user wrote.

The pair announced they were expecting their first child together in September of last year, writing, “Feeling very lucky to be welcoming a beautiful little girl into our family in early 2025. 🩷.”

Courtney has two children from a previous marriage.
Opal’s birth comes as Courtney, 44, prepares for a busy year. He is completing what will likely be his last season as a full-time driver while balancing a newborn and his work as a real estate agent.
He is also gearing up to the Australian Grand Prix weekend, which returns to Albert Park between 13-16 March.
Last year, Courtney sparked rumours that he would retire from being a supercar driver full-time at the end of his two-year Blanchard Racing Team deal.

In a social media post, he wrote “I’ve decided to bring back some of my favourite and most meaningful helmet designs for my final full-time season.”
Clarifying the speculation that followed, Courtney told media outlets, “That was a bit of a mistake to announce the retirement at that point.

“I was just talking about the real estate thing, and somehow I announced my retirement at the same time.
“You know, if Tim [Blanchard] wants to give me another deal at the end of this year, I’ll have a think about it,” he added.
“But yes, it turns out I accidentally announced my retirement.”
