KIIS FM star Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has been open in recent months about her addiction battle and month-long stay at the Betty Ford Centre in the United States.
And this week, the radio star paid a special visit to Odyssey House NSW’s Residential Recovery Centre
For the visit, Henderson, 50, met some of the residents and toured the facility, with the radio stalwart praising the centre and its program.

“We had the opportunity to show Jackie the impact that her generous support will have on our community,” Odyssey House NSW wrote in an Instagram post underneath pictures of Jackie at the centre.
“Jackie was accompanied by some of our residents as she toured the Centre and they shared what their daily life is like in the Residential Recovery Program.
“Jackie got to see Odyssey College, where residents engage in education and learn skills that will support them to secure employment as part of working towards long-term recovery,” the post read.

“You’ll see in the photos Jackie even had the chance to meet one of the babies who is currently living with their mum at our Family Recovery Centre, where they are both getting the support and care they need,” the centre’s post continued.
They then thanked Henderson for being “so generous with her time” during the visit.
In her own post on her stories, Henderson called the program and centre “wonderful”.

”One of the few programs in Australia that helps parents overcome addiction while keeping their children by their side, working to nurture and rebuild their connection,” she wrote.
At the height of her battle, Henderson was taking pain killers, sleeping pills and alcohol before seeking help at the Betty Ford Centre in the United States during a month-long stay.
The author recently revealed she feels ”lucky to be alive” and ”doesn’t know how she survived” while speaking to Mental As Anyone with J.Mo podcast.

“It was just a really awful existence to be honest. I may as well have been in a coma practically,” she said.
’‘When you look at the actual medication I was taking, I don’t know how I survived that. It’s just an awful lot for the body to take and I’m petite, it’s crazy.”
When the host asked if she felt “lucky to be alive?,” Henderson said she did.

“I do, I really feel like somebody was watching over me. They must have been,” she said.
“I was just abusing myself so much, abusing that body and how it held up I have no idea.”
