Iconic synth-pop duo Soft Cell, who rose to fame in the early ’80s and gave us the hits Tainted Love and Torch, have confirmed their first-ever tour of Australia.

Marc Almond, one half of Soft Cell, says he “cannot believe” they’re finally heading to our shores.

“It’s been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to share our music with you,” he said during an interview on Today Extra.

Reflecting on the enduring success of Tainted Love, Almond said it had been great to see it become such a hit.

“It’s one of those songs that just seems to resonate with people,” he said.

Almond, whose Soft Cell bandmate is Dave Ball, said the duo’s collaboration with techno pioneer Jeff Mills had been “one hell of a ride and adventure”.

“We cannot wait to have you all at our shows. See you soon, Australia!” he added.
