When Kendrick Lamar took to the field for the much-anticipated Super Bowl LIX half time show, he was joined on stage by several famous faces.

But one of those faces belonged to someone no one expected to see on stage.

As Lamar performed his hit Not Like Us, which is famously a diss track for fellow rapper Drake, the cameras panned to show tennis star and Drake’s alleged former fling Serena Williams dancing along to the track on stage.

Wearing a blue tennis skirt and shirt with matching Chuck Taylors, Williams danced along with the rest of Lamar’s back up dancers. At one point she looked down the barrel of the camera as she grooved with the music in her brief appearance.

Williams’ cameo instantly sent fans into a frenzy on social media as they watched her support Drake’s famous rival on stage.

“Yes Kendrick Lamar having the Queen Serena Williams crip walking made my life,” one user captioned a video of the moment posted on X.

“Bringing out your rivals ex, AKA Serena Williams, while you dis that rival is extra dirty work,” another social media user wrote on X.

Shortly after her onstage appearance, Williams shared a glimpse of her pre-show preparation to her Instagram.

In the video, Williams practices her dance moves in her costume as a makeup artist and hair stylist ad some finishing touches.

“Let’s go Super Bowl halftime??! I died a little,” she captioned the video.

”I screamed when I saw you dancing,” one fan commented.

“You actually made my night. The level of petty…” commented another.

She then posted a snippet of her halftime show performance to her Instagram simply captioning it “SB25”.

A video posted to her Instagram stories sees her leaving the venue as fans cheered for her after her on-stage appearance.

According to People, Williams and Drake briefly dated around 2011. Other outlets say the duo had an on-and-off relationship between 2011 and 2015.

Drake reportedly wrote his 2016 song Too Good about their relationship and in his 2022 song Middle of the Ocean, he appeared to name drop her and call her husband Alexis Ohanian a “groupie”.

While there have been question marks surrounding whether or not the rapper and the tennis star actually dated, Drake appeared to confirm their rumoured dalliance when he randomly dropped 100 gigabytes worth of never-before-seen content.

The drop included a video of Drake in the studio talking about his song Too Good and seemingly his connection with Williams.

“I know Serena very well and I know that she’ll hear it loud and clear, but she’ll also not hate me for it because it’s light-hearted,” he said in the video, per Lad Bible.

Williams is now married to former tennis player and tech businessman Alexis Ohanian. They tied the knot in 2017 two months after their first daughter Olympia was born.

Last week, Lamar won five Grammys for his recently released music, two of them in major categories for Not Like Us.

Lamar snagged both record of the year and song of the year for the song, along with best rap performance, best rap song, and best music video.
