Margaret Qualley has revealed a physical side effect from filming her horror movie The Substance that took a year to recover from.
Qualley, 30, stars as Sue in the 2024 film alongside Hollywood icon Demi Moore.
In a new interview on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Qualley revealed her skin was damaged from wearing prosthetics in the movie.

Qualley said the prosthetics left her face covered in acne – something you can spot in her film, Kinds of Kindness, which she shot after The Substance.
“You know the character that has all that acne? That was just my acne from the prosthetics,” she told host Josh Horowitz.
Qualley played Vivian, Martha, Ruth and Rebecca in Kinds of Kindness.
“I was like, ‘Oh this is kind of perfect. I’m playing all these different characters – for one of them we’ll use all my crazy prosthetic acne’.
“It took me probably a year to recover physically from all of it,” she said.

The star revealed that by the end of filming The Substance, they shot around her face.
Qualley claimed for the camerawork in the beginning credits scene her skin “was so f—-d up by that time that they couldn’t shoot my face anymore.”
The actress recently made a public appearance at the Golden Globes where he co-star Demi Moore took home an award for The Substance.

Moore also opened up about the physical toll the movie had on her in an interview with the Los Angeles Times in September.
Moore said she got shingles and “lost 20 pounds” (9kg approximately) during filming.
In the same interview, Qualley spoke about having “crazy acne for a full, long-a– time.”
Qualley is the daughter of Hollywood actress Andie MacDowell and Paul J. Qualley.

She has starred in films such as Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, Poor Things, and the drama series, Maid.
The actress is set to next star in the highly-anticipated sequel to Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore, expected to release sometime this year.
In 2023, Margaret Qualley married music producer Jack Antonoff, who is known for working with the likes of Taylor Swift, Lorde, Sabrina Carpenter and Lana Del Rey.
