Humanitarian and social media star Dora Moono Nyambe remembered as ‘beacon of hope’ after sudden death aged 32

Social media star Dora Moono Nyambe, known for her humanitarian work, has died suddenly at the age of 32.

The heartbreaking news was shared to Nyambe’s social media accounts over the weekend.

“It is with a heavy hearth that we announce the sudden departure of our beloved Dora,” her death was announced in a statement, which also shared the details of her burial service.

“She will be remembered as a loved mother, heroine, peace philanthropist and an extraordinary woman,” the statement continued.

No cause of death was confirmed.

A teacher who worked at the Footprints of Hope School with Nyambe confirmed she died on Wednesday, December 25, in a video message posted to the influencer’s TikTok.

Nyambe built a following of more than four million on TikTok, where she shared videos of her work supporting and working as an educator in a remote village in Zambia.

The star was the director and president of the nonprofit Footprints of Hope.

The humanitarian had opened a school in the rural village of Mapapa, and helped provide food, healthcare and shelter for more than 500 children.

She had worked to rescue children from abuse and raise awareness for child marriages.

Her social media videos helped to raise funds for the nonprofit group.

The comments section was inundated with messages remembering Nyambe for her incredible humanitarian efforts.

“A great loss to not only the children and your country, but to the entire world,” one person commented.

“My heart is broken for such an unimaginable loss of a wonderful, world changing woman. She will always be known as the superhero she was,” another said.

“Tragic. A beautiful soul gone much too soon,” someone else wrote.

Another said they couldn’t “even begin to process this loss to the local community and the world at large”. 

In a follow-up Instagram post rescheduling Nyambe’s burial date, the Footprints of Hope team shared their gratitude for their outreach of support.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has come forward to support us, whether financially or in other forms,” the said.

“Your kindness and generosity have been a source of great comfort and strength for the family during this period.”

The nonprofit shared a full tribute to Nyambe on LinkedIn.

The group said she was a “beacon of hope to those she served, a source of inspiration to the millions that followed her online and to me, a close friend.”

“To see her life and impact cut short is a devastating blow.”

Nyambe’s final post was a philanthropic partnership with American YoutTuber MrBeast.

The video showed Nyambe rebuilding dormitories at her school that were destroyed in storms. The house was renamed the Beast Philanthropy House.
