Alecia Beth Moore, better known by her stage alias Pink, has become somewhat of an honorary Australian over the years.

Basically, us Aussies LOVE Pink and her music.

The pop superstar has been with her husband, motocross racer Carey Hart since 2006, and oh what a love story it is.

Pink and husband Carey Hart

The pair met at the X-games in 2001, and Pink actually proposed to him in 2005 at one of his races with a pit board that read “Will you Marry Me?”

When he didn’t immediately pull over, she pulled out a second sign for his next lap that read, “I’m serious!”

The couple married in 2007 in Costa Rica, and we would love to tell you they have been happily married ever since, but unfortunately, we would be lying.

The couple announced their split in February, 2008, and Pink’s iconic breakup song So What is actually about Hart himself.

When telling the story behind the song, she basically explained that it started out as a joke.

“I heard this beat from Max Martin. It’s such a fun beat, so fun,” she said.

“And I was actually kidding when I said, ‘I guess I just lost my husband, I don’t know where he went. Ha ha, that’s really funny. Let’s keep it’, and it just kind of went from there.

“And it just got more and more wrong. The more lines we wrote, the wronger it was. And we kept it because I don’t really care.”

The couple never confirmed why they broke up all those years ago.

Eventually the couple reconciled, calling off their divorce in May 2009. But just as they were starting to rebuild their relationship, Pink pulled the ultimate break-up power move.

She invited Hart to be a part of the music video for So What Before he actually knew what it was about. And it wasn’t until he was on set that he found out.

In an interview with ET Canada, Pink explained she had to work hard to make sure her newly-reconciled relationship didn’t fly out the window after Hart heard the song.

“I didn’t want him to know I was calling him a tool because I thought maybe he’d leave,” she laughed.

“So I was like… play line three, then skip to line five, definitely do not play line 10.”

Back in 2009, Pink spoke with E News about how she actually convinced Hart to be a part of the video, and honestly, it doesn’t sound like it was that hard.

“We’ve been in each other’s lives, let’s put it that way, for a really long time,” she said.

“At this point he just rolls his eyes, throws his hands up and says, ‘Sure, what time?’ He’s just a good sport.”

The song became Pink’s first number-one hit, which she later revealed Hart thinks is ‘hilarious’.

The couple are still happily married to this day and share two children, Willow, 12, and Jameson, six.

Appearing on the Kelly Clarkson show in 2023, Pink revealed she hasn’t stopped writing songs about their relationship.

“There’s one on the new album, that was a hard day,” she said.

“I played it for him, because that’s fair he should know what’s being said about him in the world.

“And he just started giggling and was like, ‘well you’re welcome’.”
