In the Instagram video, King is seen unknowingly walking into her party. The video captured the beloved media maven being caught off guard as she stepped into the venue that was filled with friends and family yelling out, “Happy Birthday!”

“My bestie of 50 years is turning 70, so we gathered everyone that loved her to celebrate,” Winfrey captioned the post. “Hard thing to surprise her—O the stories we have made up, the lies we have told to keep this a secret. Happy birthday, @gayleking, sorry we almost gave you a heart attack.”

The friendship between Winfrey and King has spanned for decades, so the party doesn’t come as a complete shock. Earlier this year, Winfrey celebrated her own 70th birthday and King showed her bestie some love in a heartwarming tribute. In the video, Winfrey shared a sweet moment with King’s grandson during their vacation.

“Happy to say at 70 @oprah is still a very good reader!” King captioned the post. “While Favorite grandson Luca is too young to understand how special this moment was during Christmas vacation, it’s not lost on me.”
