Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is doubling down on her demand for justice in the fatal shooting of Ashli Babbitt during the January 6 Capitol riot. Greene has called for murder charges against U.S. Capitol Police officer Michael Byrd, who shot the unarmed Air Force veteran as she attempted to climb through a shattered window leading to the House Speaker’s Lobby.

“Yes, 100%,” Greene said in a Washington Examiner interview when asked if charges should be filed. “I would hope that our new attorney general, who I like a lot—Pam Bondi—looks into it and considers murder charges, at least.”

The controversial congresswoman has been a vocal advocate for those arrested or convicted in connection with the Capitol riot, arguing that they have been unfairly treated by the justice system. She has also criticized the Biden administration and congressional Democrats for supporting Byrd, who was cleared of wrongdoing after an investigation and later promoted.

While no charges were brought against Byrd, Babbitt’s family, with the help of Judicial Watch, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the government.
