Candice King and Kat Graham jumped into action at a recent press event to stop their Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev from being hit by a falling stage piece.

The three actresses were on stage for a panel discussion at the I Was Feeling Festive 2 fan convention in Georgia, USA.

Dobrev was in the middle of answering a question when the stage backdrop began to fall.

King and Graham noticed it falling and immediately jumped out of their seats as the crowd yelled out in shock.

Before Dobrev had even noticed what was going on, King reached over to push her out of the way of the way to protect her from being hit.

King then jumped behind Dobrev to catch the falling piece.

When Dobrev noticed what was happening, she jumped out of her seat and instinctively pulled her jacket off – a seemingly odd choice, but she would later explain why.

She took a moment to compose herself after the shock while King and Graham proceeded to stand the backdrop back up.

The crowd cheered for the stars’ quick action as they reset the stage, and King sweetly pulled Dobrev in for a hug afterwards.

Still reeling from the shock of the moment, Dobrev addressed the crowd.

“I thought it was a spider,” she said as the crowd burst into laughter.
