In an exclusive interview with People Magazine, Jennifer Hudson shared a heartwarming and personal insight into the creation of her new Christmas album, “The Gift of Love,” revealing that her son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., played a significant role in the process.

The multi-talented singer and actress opened up about how her son’s involvement helped shape the festive project, bringing a special touch of family and love to the music. As they collaborated on this holiday album, Hudson’s bond with her son became a central inspiration, adding a deeper layer of joy and meaning to her latest musical endeavor.

“[My son] helped name this holiday album, The Gift of Love,” Hudson told the outlet about her Old Navy holiday campaign.

“He’s a holiday fanatic just like me. He’s been very present within this whole thing,” the EGOT winner added. “We would sit by the fireplace, watch holiday movies together. He even went ‘Mama, this song right here is my favorite song off of the Christmas album.’ Giving his two cents. He’s encouraging, he helped me learn different notes.”

Hudson continues in her interview saying that the process for this particular project was kept all in the family. “Everything is family-oriented, even that process,” Hudson said.

The EGOT-winner also stressed that the the love for music and the holidays are not the only things that the talk show host wants to pass on to her son. she also wants to ensure that she instills a sense of altruistic philanthropy in her son.

“He’s always looking for gifts to give others,” Hudson says of the 15-year-old. “He’s a giver. And that’s how he was raised. That’s the tradition that’s within him. He is very much like me. He loves to see everyone come together and have dinner together, have a good time together and seeing the unity in it all.”

“The Gift of Love,” is the EGOT-winner’s first holiday album and first album since the 2021 “Respect” soundtrack and “JHUD” in 2014. Hudson shares her son with ex-fiance, David Daniel Otunga.
