Reddit’s r/cryptocurrency community, with 8.8 million users, has partnered with Unstoppable Domains to launch .MOON, the first Reddit community-based blockchain domain.
The new domain, built on the Polygon blockchain, allows Reddit’s crypto community members to establish digital identities and interact with over 865 blockchain applications and wallets.
“We at r/cryptocurrency have always been focused on community empowerment, and launching .MOON domains is the next big step in that journey,” said John Murphy, Treasurer of MOON DAO.
The .MOON domain enables users to send and receive crypto assets and NFTs while creating unique digital profiles.
It integrates with Unstoppable Domains’ ecosystem, providing access to decentralized apps and exclusive collectible badges.
Sandy Carter, Chief Operating Officer at Unstoppable Domains, said the company is dedicated to integrating diverse projects into its ecosystem.
She highlighted how the r/cryptocurrency community can now extend its unique energy into the onchain space, moving beyond Reddit to reach new users through decentralized applications.
The r/cryptocurrency subreddit joins 30 other onchain organizations, including Blockchain.com and Pudgy Penguins, in preparation for the 2026 Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) general Top-Level Domain application round.
Although Reddit has stepped back from crypto projects, the r/cryptocurrency community continues to drive innovation.
After Reddit renounced control of Moons’ smart contracts, the community took over the project.
With the .MOON domain launch, crypto initiatives now stem from the community rather than Reddit itself.
