The wait is over—Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA legend Carmelo and La La Anthony, has officially announced where he will take his basketball talents.

The four-star recruit revealed he will join Syracuse’s basketball program, choosing his father’s alma mater over USC.

Kiyan shared the big news on YouTube through Carmelo’s 7PM in Brooklyn channel, marking a significant moment in the Anthony family.

Ranked as the No. 32 overall prospect and No. 6 shooting guard in the 2025 recruiting class by 247Sports, Kiyan has been making waves as a standout at Long Island Lutheran High School in Glen Head, New York. Notably, he’s also the No. 1 recruit from New York State in his class.

While Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse to an NCAA championship before his Hall of Fame-worthy NBA career, Kiyan is carving his own legacy. Carmelo, who spent 19 seasons in the league, reflected on how his son’s game differs from his own during a recent interview with Overtime.

“I think my game back then at 16 was a little more physical. I just had a different type of mentality because of how I was growing up and my upbringing and what I was around in my environment, so my ‘why’ was a lot different,” the NBA legend said.

“[Kiyan] has skills that I didn’t have. His court vision at this level is very high. His shot-making ability is high. And I think people look at him for being able to make shots and take away from his actual playmaking and IQ of the game,” he continued.

With USC’s strong basketball program and Kiyan’s undeniable talent, fans are eager to see how the next chapter of the Anthony legacy unfolds.
