Rashida Jones has remembered her late father Quincy Jones as a “culture shifter” who “made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen”.
The legendary music producer, known for working with the likes of Michael Jackson, Ray Charles and Frank Sinatra, died on Sunday aged 91.
In a tribute shared on Instagram, Rashida, who has carved out a Hollywood career as an actress, says her father’s work was “a channel for his love”.

“My dad was nocturnal his whole adult life. He kept ‘jazz hours’ starting in high school and never looked back,” she wrote alongside a photo of the pair taken when Rashida was a baby.
“When I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to search for him. Undoubtedly, he would be somewhere in the house, composing (old school, with a pen and sheet music).
“He would never send me back to bed. He would smile and bring me into his arms while he continued to work…there was no safer place in the world for me.”

The Parks and Recreation star, 48, said her father “made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen”.
“That’s his legacy. I was fortunate enough to experience this love in close proximity,” she continued.
“I’ll miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice. Daddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.”
Quincy – a father of seven – shared Rashida and her older sister Kidada, an actress and model, with his third wife, Peggy Lipton.
Lipton was also a major star, having started as a model before moving into acting, with her role in The Mod Squad making her a ’60s TV icon. She later starred in Twin Peaks.
In 2019, Lipton died of colon cancer at age 72.
