Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 White House race.

“When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me,” James wrote in a social media post Thursday, alongside a video montage highlighting recent controversial moments from former President Trump’s New York City rally.

In his video, James included clips of Trump’s past statements and comments made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at the rally, where he disparaged Puerto Rico, Latinos, and Black communities. “That’s one of my buddies, we carved watermelons together, it was awesome,” Hinchcliffe said during his performance, a comment now circulating widely on social media.

James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, has a history of vocal support for political figures, endorsing Biden in 2020 and Clinton in 2016. Following the 2020 election, James shared an edited image of Biden “blocking” Trump on social media and famously called Trump a “bum” in 2017.

James has also championed voting rights, co-founding “More Than a Vote” in 2020 to increase Black voter turnout. Currently led by WNBA star Nneka Ogwumike, the organization continues to advocate for voter registration and participation, particularly among African Americans.
