As the brand new series of Big Brother begins to take flight, the shows hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best spill all of the BB tea to Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo on the latest episode of the ‘Newlyweds’ podcast.
As well as covering topics related to the much talked about reality show – including the pairs thoughts on housemates having sex (!) – the two BFF’s discuss Will’s engagement, the importance of getting nails done for an engagement, wedding planning, engagement party stress, refusing to pay premium for other’s renovations, and living amongst renovation work.
On she deals with any pre-show nerves, an every chirpy AJ says: “It’s funny because Will always says he gets super nervous in the month leading up to that first show, but on the day we go live he gets excited, and I feel exactly the same! Honestly those final few weeks before we launch a new series are filled with sleepless nights, stressful conversations about what I’m going to be wearing, and feeling this constant nervous energy in my tummy. But in the end, we just surrender it and the overriding thing we feel the most is excitement!”
On the topic of housemates have intimate relations in the house, Will chips in: “I mean, there has been (sex) in the past, but not in the last series. The housemates in the last series, not the celebrity one, found a blind spot where they could go to… enjoy each others company. Apparently Henry and Jordan had more snogs than we saw, but because they stood in this blind spot, they couldn’t be seen by any of the cameras.”
Discussing his recent engagement, Will tells Jamie and Sophie: “I’m really excited! I wanted the proposal to be a surprise, and of course I wanted it to be special… I was just excited to see her face when I asked her! There was a bit of a drama surrounding the engagement ring, but everything worked out in the end!”
“Will and I met up before he did it,” AJ adds. “He was telling me all about it, you know this grand plan of how he’s going to propose, and I’m getting all excited but when I was like: ‘has she had her nails done? She needs to have her nails done!’ And Will’s like: ‘what?!’. I know people might laugh, but I just think when you get engaged, there’s going to be loads of photos taken of your hands, so they need to be looking their best.”
When asked about wedding planning, Best says: “Oh it’s a nightmare. We don’t agree on things. She wants to do it abroad, and I’m like, that sounds expensive (laughs). Also, then I’ve got mates with babies that have to fly their babies out and all that, and Tobi (my fiancees) like: ‘who gives a fuck about other people’s babies? This is our wedding!’. So yeah, we’ve still got a lot to sort out…”
