In the quiet halls of a suburban church, a young boy with a guitar in hand strums out the first chords of what would become a lifelong love affair with music. Meet Chris Dengler, a guitarist and bassist whose journey through the world of rock ‘n’ roll reads like a modern- day epic, filled with twists, turns, and moments of sheer musical brilliance.

Dengler’s musical odyssey began in earnest as a child, when he first picked up the guitar and began plucking out melodies with only three weeks of formal lessons under his belt. Recognizing his innate talent and boundless enthusiasm, Dengler’s father quickly canceled his lessons, hoping that it was just a passing phase.  But, explore he did, honing his skills in the hallowed halls of his local church and immersing himself in the rich tapestry of music that surrounded him.

But it wasn’t long before Dengler’s musical ambitions outgrew the confines of his small- town upbringing. Teaming up with several high school friends, he formed a makeshift band and began performing gigs at unlikely venues like Chuck E. Cheese’s, trading their musical talents for free pizza and the sheer thrill of performing live. From those humble beginnings, Dengler’s passion for music only continued to grow, and before long, he found himself being whisked away into the vibrant local music scene of Northern California.

As Dengler and his bandmates transitioned from Chuck E. Cheese’s to the smoky bars and clubs of their hometown, their sound evolved, drawing inspiration from the iconic sounds of the 50s and 60s that had captivated audiences for generations. Before they knew it, they were playing gigs almost  every weekend,  honing their  craft  and winning over  audiences with their infectious energy and undeniable talent.

“Our parents didn’t know it at the time – that we were sneaking out late at night to play in the downtown bars until closing time. Our keyboardist, Dave Fraser would coast his car up to our house in order to sneak me out to get to the gigs,” says Dengler.

But Dengler’s musical journey was far from over. With college on the horizon, he set his sights on new horizons, landing a gig as a disc jockey at the legendary “rock and roll nightclub” known as “Bobby McGee’s” in Citrus Heights, CA. It was here, amidst the pulsating rhythms and flashing lights of the dance floor, that Dengler’s passion for music truly ignited, fueling his desire to take his musical career to new heights.

And so, armed with nothing but his guitar and an unwavering determination, Dengler set out for the bright lights of Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world. It was here that his musical career took a serious turn, as he began performing in shows that were ticketed by Ticketmaster, trading the dingy bar scenes of his youth for the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas strip, and the arena box office. From intimate clubs to sprawling arenas, Dengler’s talent as a guitarist and bassist shone through, earning him a devoted following and paving the way for his ascent to musical stardom.

During initial stages of his music career, Dengler played with Tenors of Rock at Harrah’s and Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The Tenors of Rock had previouslyparticipated in the X Factor in the UK. Although the band did not go onto winning the competition, but amassed a good run and fan following. Dengler also performed at the Rock of Ages in Las Vegas which was featured at The Venetian and later The Rio.

Today, Dengler stands at the pinnacle of his musical career, a seasoned veteran of the rock ‘n’ roll scene whose talent knows no bounds. From his early days playing for free pizza at Chuck E. Cheese’s to sharing the stage with rock legends like The Righteous Brothers and performing in front of crowds of thousands, his journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the enduring allure of rock music.

But for Dengler, the journey is far from over. With each note he plays and each chord he strums, he continues to push the boundaries of his artistry, exploring new sounds and forging new musical connections that will undoubtedly shape the future of rock ‘n’ roll for generations to come. As he looks back on the winding road that has led him to where he is today, one thing is clear – the music will always be his guiding light, leading him ever onward on his quest for musical greatness.
