Vince McMahon‘s sexual abuse and trafficking allegations are looming over him and his empire. The entertainment executive’s net worth took a hit after a former WWE staff member came forward with allegations early in 2024.

Vince McMahon bought the WWE from his father (then it was the World Wrestling Federation) and transformed it into a multibillion-dollar empire with the familiar faces of Hulk Hogan, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and John Cena. His family was very involved in how the company was run—with his wife Linda co-founding the company and his daughter Stephanie taking over his position after retirement— and in their own WWE storylines as well. McMahon was known on the small screen as Mr. McMahon, a fictionalized version of himself who wreaked havoc in the ring with slogans like “You’re fired!”

However in recent years, McMahon’s legacy has been tarnished with a slew of allegations and caused him to step down from his roles.

Vince McMahon’s net worth is worth $2.5 billion, according to Forbes. WWE merged with UFC to make TKO Group Holdings, which is majority-owned by Endeavor. After he was accused by a former WWE employee in 2024, he sold 5.35 million shares of TKO stock worth $412 million in March 2024. He previously owned owned 20.4 million TKO shares last November, and as a result, will still own around 15 million shares in the company. On April 2024, Endeavor agreed to purchase 1.64 million shares of McMahon’s Class A common stock of TKO (also for $89.01 per share) for a total of of $146.2 million. 

This isn’t the first time that McMahon stepped down from his role. In 2022, he retired from being CEO and Chairman of WWE after being investigated by the WWE board. His daughter Stephanie replaced him but he returned as a Chairman for the organization.

Who is suing Vince McMahon?

Vince McMahon is being sued by Janel Grant for sexual abuse and trafficking. In May 2024, Grant agreed to stay her civil case while McMahon is the subject of a federal investigation to determine if federal law was broken. In 2022, the WWE began investigating a $3 million hush-money settlement that McMahon that eventually involved four victims who were paid a total of $12 million. Grant alleged that McMahon had agreed to pay her $3 million in 2022 in return for a NDA, but stopped paying after only $1 million.

In 1992, Rita Chatterton who was the WWE’s first woman referee, accused McMahon of rape and reached a settlement with her in 2023. He also faced a sexual harassment accusation from a tanning bar employee in Boca Raton, Florida in 2011.
